What strain is Skywalker OG?

Skywalker OG is an indica-dominant hybrid from the OG Kush family that became popular in California in the mid-2000s. DNA Genetics describes it as a cross of “Skywalker (a Mazar × Blueberry hybrid developed in Amsterdam)” with OG Kush. AllBud gives the same pairing: Skywalker × OG Kush.

Each grandparent adds something. Mazar is an Afghan indica known for resin, Blueberry (DJ Short’s 1970s line) brings a sweet berry note, and OG Kush adds the fuel smell and much of the strength. Leafly lists the lineage more briefly as “Mazar x Blueberry OG”, and our own product page describes it as a cross of Blueberry and Mazar. All three describe the same family; the longer version simply names OG Kush as a separate parent.

Is Skywalker the same as Skywalker OG?

Not exactly. Skywalker is the older Mazar × Blueberry parent, while Skywalker OG is that plant crossed with OG Kush. Leafly does list “Sky”, “Sky OG” and “Skywalker OG Kush” as nicknames for Skywalker OG, so menus often blur the two. If a listing just says “Skywalker”, check whether it mentions OG Kush or a diesel smell.

Is Skywalker OG a sativa or indica?

Skywalker OG is an indica-dominant hybrid. AllBud rates it 85% indica and 15% sativa, Leafly and DNA Genetics both file it as indica-dominant, and our Skywalker OG listing describes it the same way.

Why is Skywalker OG so strong?

Skywalker OG is strong mainly because of its OG Kush parent and its resin-heavy Mazar grandparent. Leafly lists OG Kush at 25% THC, and Skywalker OG inherits much of that potency: Leafly gives a range of 20% to 30%, AllBud 20% to 25%, and DNA Genetics says it averages 20% to 25% and has tested as high as about 30%.

Myrcene, its lead terpene, is also the one most often linked with a heavy, settled feel, which adds to its reputation. Is Skywalker strain strong compared with other strains?

Yes. A 20% to 30% range puts it above its Blueberry grandparent, which Leafly lists at 17%, and level with or above many everyday OG strains. Strength still varies by grower and harvest, so two lots with the same name can test differently.

What does Skywalker OG feel like?

Most people describe Skywalker OG as heavy and relaxing. The top reported feelings on Leafly are relaxed, tingly and sleepy, and AllBud lists euphoria, happy, relaxing and sleepy. AllBud reviewers describe it as a “very heavy stoney high” that leaves people couch-locked and hungry.

The most common negatives on Leafly are dry mouth, dry eyes and dizziness. Because of that profile, most people keep it for the evening rather than the daytime. This describes what consumers report, not a health claim, and individual reactions vary with the dose and the person.

What does Skywalker OG taste and smell like?

Skywalker OG smells pungent and earthy, with diesel and spice up front and pine and citrus when the buds are broken up. Leafly’s top flavours are pungent, earthy and spicy/herbal. DNA Genetics describes “pungent earthy and diesel” notes followed by “spicy herbal notes” and some sweetness.

How does Skywalker OG compare with OG Kush and Blueberry?

Skywalker OG sits between its two best-known relatives: it keeps OG Kush’s fuel smell and strength, but leans further toward indica and is reported as sleepier. The table uses Leafly data for all three strains.

All three share myrcene as the lead terpene. The Blueberry side shows up less in the flavour than you might expect: most people taste OG Kush’s diesel first and only a faint sweetness behind it.
