Hash in the Pakistani tradition — one of the historic hash-producing regions alongside Afghanistan, Morocco and Lebanon, each with its own established method and resulting texture. Pakistani hash is typically dark, dense and pliable.
Regional hash styles
The differences are real and come from process rather than marketing. Afghan and Pakistani hash is traditionally hand-pressed to a soft, dark, malleable consistency. Moroccan is usually sieved and comes out lighter in colour and more crumbly. Lebanese sits between them. None is inherently better — they behave differently, and which you prefer is largely about texture and how you intend to use it.
Using it
Crumble a little into a joint with flower, which is the traditional route and shows the character best. It also works on a bowl or in a vaporiser rated for concentrates. Firm pieces soften with brief gentle warmth.
Storage
Cool, dark, wrapped. Hash is the most stable concentrate there is and keeps for years properly stored, unlike shatter which changes texture over months.
