While a strong argument could be made that the entirety of April 2020 has been a 4/20 in its own right, there’s still one day this month that holds the title as the official unofficial day for cannabis users, April 20.
This year is facing some unique challenges when it comes to celebrating, but anyone who has ever made a quick pipe out of an apple knows that cannabis culture comes with more than its share of creativity.
If you’re looking to indulge and celebrate while still physically distancing from everything except the fridge, we’ve found a few groups, Canadian and global, putting on some high events.
Westwood Recordings x Shambhala Music Festival x Your EDM Present: A 420 LiveStream
Yes, it’s a long title, but it’s a big event.
You might be stuck inside right now, but music is not cancelled. See some of the best names in electronic music including Defunk Skratch Bastid, and more. Bring the music straight to your home this 4/20. The fun starts at 3 pm on Monday.
Waldos Forever Fest
Normally, Waldos Forever Fest is only open to those living in Illinois. However, with the state being ordered to shelter in place, the famous event is inviting the world to join in from home.
The virtual 420 fest takes place via Twitch on Saturday, April 18, at 4:20 pm with personalities from the community creating original content to unite, entertain, and ignite the cannabis community. Each segment will include appearances by local neighbours cooking with cannabis, blowing glass, and bending neon, along with DJ sets, drag, and performance art.
420 Virtual Day Party
A Canadian affair, this party is bringing a full lineup of DJs from 3 to 6 pm on the very special Monday. It’s RSVP, so if you want the Zoom link, make sure to sign up ahead of time. Before the big day, strapped.to is also offering a variety of entertainment and even yoga — everyone loves yoga.
420 World Record
Just because you’re stuck at home doesn’t mean you can’t break a world record. Guinness might not be watching, but sign up to participate in a 1,000-person-strong smoke session over a Zoom conference call.
Head to the event’s website to add your name to the waiting list.
Highstream 420 Festival
Two of the continent’s largest cannabis gatherings, National Cannabis Festival and The Emerald Cup, have combined forces for a coast-to-coast online 4/20 festival benefitting coronavirus relief charities.
Tune in at 4 pm EDT via NUGS.TV for a full day of music performances, online workshops, demos, and interactive panels.
420 for a Cause
Get stoned for a reason other than to just do it. 420 for a Cause is bringing together some of the best musicians from bands like Thievery Corporation, Lotus, Sunsquabi, Other Worlds, The New Deal, and more.
The benefit is aiming to raise money to support the Colorado Comedy Relief Fund, Colorado Restaurant Association, Eddie Roberts Payback Foundation, and the Colorado COVID Relief Fund. Have some fun with some streaming good times, and give back a little this 4/20.
Budicate’s Virtual 420
Cannabis educators and consultancy company Budicate is hosting its own very special 4/20 event. Details of how it’s all going down are a little sparse, but the organizers say it’s a meeting for those missing the social aspect of cannabis use to connect online. Register for the sesh and the company will send you the details of how to attend at 4:20 pm on the big day.
