What is shatter?

Shatter is a cannabis extract that sets into a hard, translucent sheet — glassy enough to snap, which is where the name comes from. It is made by washing the plant with a solvent to strip out the cannabinoids and terpenes, then purging that solvent off under vacuum. What is left is concentrated resin with the plant matter removed.

That concentration is the entire point, and the reason to treat it differently from flower: a piece the size of a grain of rice is a serious dose.

How to use it

Shatter is normally dabbed — heated on a nail or in an e-rig and inhaled as vapour. It can also be added sparingly to a joint or bowl, though a lot of the material is wasted that way because the temperature is uncontrolled.

Store it cold and in the dark. Shatter left warm slowly loses its glassy structure and turns into a soft, sugary consistency — still usable, just less pleasant to handle.
