One account crosses Chemdawg with a hardy Hindu Kush landrace. Another holds that it appeared from undocumented bag seed as a distinct phenotype of an existing strain and was propagated from there.

Even the name is contested — “OG” has been read as “original gangster” and as “ocean grown”, among others. We would rather set that out honestly than publish the version that sounds best.
