Astro Pink is a AAAA-grade flower in the pink-named family — a group that includes Pink Kush, Pink Bubba and Pink Coma, all of which take their name from the colour of the pistils rather than the leaf.
Where the pink comes from
The hairs running through a bud are pistils, and their colour shifts through the plant’s life from white to cream to orange, rust or pink depending on genetics and finishing conditions. Pink expression is genetic and shows most clearly in strains bred for it. Purple and near-black leaf colour is a different mechanism entirely — that comes from anthocyanin pigments responding to cool night temperatures late in the grow.
Does colour tell you anything useful?
About potency, no. Colour is not a proxy for strength. What it does tell you is something about the grow: a strain expressing its colour fully has generally been finished properly rather than rushed, and at AAAA that is what you are paying for alongside the trim and cure.
